SCART (what does it stand for?) is intended to be a European and, eventually, world standard for the interchange of audio and visual signals between (primarily) consumer equipment - especially between TVs and video recorders.

As with all standards, it isn't, necessarily. But the following pin-out are as close to a standard as we've come across.
